Best Ways To Learn English

For anyone learning English!

No one said learning English, or any language for that matter, would be easy. However, there are ways to ease the tough process of acquiring this new skill.

Be brave and speak the language whenever possible!

Sure, you will make mistakes here and there, but practicing English with native speakers is a great way to ensure correct grammar and enunciation. This could be a friend, tutor, or a cashier at the supermarket. Don’t be afraid to let them know you are still learning.

Using Social Media

If speaking is still a bit scary, social media is another useful tool. For example, Twitter has various different publication accounts, such as the New York times, ESPN, or Vogue. Reading these on a daily basis to get yourself comfortable will definitely help you in the long run.
There are also countless videos, posts, and photos that are quite helpful! By watching videos online with subtitles, or listening to podcasts or songs, you will be able to pick up the language faster than you think! The same applies to movies and TV shows.

Mirror, Mirror, On The Wall

Mirrors help too. Setting aside 5-10 minutes a day to practice English in front of the mirror will reap significant results within a few weeks. You can start by introducing yourself, and slowly transition into what you did today. You can even write down key words and phrases before you practice so you can refer to them if need be. Repetition is key.

Thinking In English

You can also try thinking in English instead of your usual native language. Other tips and tricks include changing your phone and email settings to English. Do not try translating word for word, but if you start your thought process in English while doing chores or grocery shopping, you eventually become more used to it.

The most important rule of all is to be consistent! Don’t give up, we are here for you! If it becomes too hard, continue to push through and use different resources to help you along the way!
